RFK, Jr. said it most succinctly and said it best:
Once again, a bullet has silenced the most eloquent truth-teller of an era.
Absolutely.
Is Charlie like JFK, RFK, MLK?
Is he like, without the bullet, Billy Graham?
Or Abe Lincoln?
Going further back: Socrates? (to whom he has often been compared, for his Socratic style.)
Jesus? Even though Charlie would be the first to say that the suggestion is absurd, there is truth to that assertion: he wasn’t Jesus, but he was LIKE Jesus.
But I would prefer to say that Charlie was like my namesake: Saint Stephen.
Stephen was a young deacon: that is, he was not yet a priest, but he was on his way to being a priest.
And he read the Riot Act to the Pharisees and Sadducees, a year after the Resurrection.
He told them they were hypocrites, sell-outs, and blasphemers.
They had persecuted the prophets, he said.
They were a disgrace, he said.
And he was right.
And they stoned him to death for his trouble.
For telling the truth.
And that is Charlie Kirk in a nutshell.
But who were the Pharisees and Sadducees who killed Charlie Kirk?
They were not the nut-job who pulled the trigger. He was just a convenient lackey. Like the lackeys who killed JFK and RFK and MLK.
It wasn’t even a diseased society that did it.
You hear how it’s the Bad Culture. That’s just a convenient scapegoat, an excuse, without a lot of meaning.
No. What killed Charlie Kirk was a very specific component, or set of components, of our society.
What killed Charlie Kirk was the Democrat Party, their Lapdog Media, and the Sniveling Cowards of the Internet, Academia, and Hollywood.
All of those, in short, who lied about Charlie and misrepresented him, and who called him the Opposite of what he was.
They called him a racist, and a bigot, and a misogynist, and a fascist.
And he was none of those things. His accusers, rather, were most or all of those things.
He was the exact opposite of those things.
He loved all human beings, regardless of color, or gender (real or otherwise), of creed, or, indeed, of any characteristic. The only thing he hated was the devil and his work.
He was about as Christ-like as anyone in public life--and, for all I know (and I know a fair amount from his wife, friends, and colleagues) --in private life.
And like Christ--and Socrates--both of whom loved the young particularly, as did Charlie--he was killed for his trouble.
It was not a disease of society that killed Charlie--unless it was the fallen nature of the world. That may be the root cause; but it was not the Proximate Cause.
The Proximate Cause was a Phalanx of Sadducees and Pharisees. This Phalanx threatens the entire nation--because it is arrayed against what is Decent and True about our society.
Don’t blame a Fallen World or a Diseased Society: blame the people who demonized Charlie and essentially called for his death.
Many of these people, I am sure, have a troubling sense that they are at fault--some may even be experiencing pangs of guilt; many are at least nervous that they will be blamed--and for good reason. But many are not: they have no qualms or misgivings. And almost none of them are admitting blame, or bearing responsibility, or vowing (if even only to themselves) to do better.
Nothing is harder for human beings than to recognize and admit that they are dead wrong. And dangerously wrong. And unjustly wrong. And inhumanely wrong.
This is where the Left finds itself.
The Left has sown the wind; now it will reap the whirlwind.
Hopefully that whirlwind will be peaceful: rhetorical, political, and cultural. Hopefully the Left will be discredited, ignored, and rejected.
I feel like I know Charlie.
I listened to him a lot.
If I had had the honor of meeting him, I’m sure we would have gotten along like a house on fire.
Charlie was half my age, but he knew as much philosophy as I do--probably more. He knew the Bible at least as well as I--probably better.
He interviewed an Eastern Orthodox priest very recently. I was surprised--but not shocked--at how little Charlie knew about Orthodoxy. (America is only beginning to learn about Orthodoxy.)
But I would tell him: you’re as Orthodox as anyone I know--with respect to my Orthodox priest friends.
Charlie had his marriage co-sanctioned in the Catholic Church the day before he died.
His children were recently baptized Catholic.
His wife reverted to Catholicism.
As a Cradle Catholic, I applaud that. And I’m proud of it.
If you don’t know Charlie Kirk, even a little like I do, then you’re the worse for it.
Some people I know and respect say they had reservations about Charlie. One said he was provocative. Presumably he meant in a needless or unfair way.
Well:
Socrates was provocative.
Jesus was provocative.
“Provocative” doesn’t cut it.
And when you say you don’t agree with Charlie Kirk (even though you respect his right to say it), I say:
What’s not to agree with?
What exactly has he said that is wrong? That you can’t agree with?
Seriously.
Nothing he said was in any way Un-American or Un-Christian or Inhumane. He never belittled or insulted anybody. He never called anyone names.
What did he say? He said:
Capitalism is good; Socialism and Communism are bad.
Family is good.
Christianity is good.
Tolerance is good.
Peaceful debate is good.
Self-control, self-discipline, and sobriety are good.
Compassion is good.
Responsibility is good.
Virtue is good. Vice is bad.
Men are men; women are women.
Borders should be controlled.
Abortion should be avoided as much as possible.
America is the greatest nation in history.
The 10 Commandments and Christianity are fundamental to the identity of America and the West.
America is fundamentally good.
Are there any reasonable objections to any of this?
If you felt insulted or belittled by Charlie it’s because you were looking to be offended.
I’ve done a shallow dive into what Charlie’s critics say was objectionable about him. As far as I can tell, everything they’ve pointed to was distorted into the opposite of what he meant--and of what you would understand if you listened in good faith.
We found out that the killer is a squirt--a punk. A smart squirt and punk, they say. That’s not a surprise. Many of these punks and squirts are pretty smart--smart enough to get themselves into trouble, not smart enough to stay out of it or get out of it--and certainly not smart enough to know the Truth from BS. As Alexander Pope said: A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
This punk thought he knew what a Fascist is. I’m sure he thought he knew that Christianity was a Hoax. He thought he knew right from wrong. He didn’t know diddly squat.
And he saw and heard a man--a real man--who knew a lot. And he hated him for it.
Charlie wasn’t killed because the Left disagreed with him, as the conventional wisdom goes.
They killed him because they hated him.
That is an entirely different thing.
Why did they hate him?
Because they knew--or at least feared--he was right. And they knew they were sinners, although they would hate that term, too.
They hated him like the people who shouted for Jesus’ death hated Him.
And what was Jesus’ response?
Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do.
Charlie was one of the very few people who might have been able to say that, too, as he breathed his last breath. (St. Stephen did, following his Lord’s example.)
Once again, Charlie was not Jesus Christ--make no mistake.
But he was LIKE Jesus.
And aren’t we all called to be like Jesus?
In case you’re not sure, the answer is: Yes, that’s exactly what Christianity calls for.
But the Left has no place for Jesus. It hates Jesus.
No one should cavil with that. We all know it’s true.
What Leftist celebrates Jesus?
You’re far, far more likely to find a Leftist who worships the Devil. Not figuratively. Literally. A good number are actual Satanists.
And they killed Charlie because he was a Real Man.
Like Jesus was a Real Man.
And they hated Jesus and Charlie for that. Because they were cowards: the Pharisees and Sadduccees and the Weak People who went along with them, so that they could pretend to be Big Men and Big Women.
Just as the Left are cowards: the thugs and pukes, the Half Men and sometimes Half Women (no pun intended) who shoot kids and other innocents to the cowards in the Halls of Congress and in State Houses and City Councils, as well as in many ordinary places across the country.
They can’t deal with real men and real women: because they are half men and half women, and they know it--even if it’s just deep down.
They know they are weak and foolish: and they hate those who show them up: like Charlie and--yes--Donald Trump.
They say Hell Hath no Fury like a Woman Scorned: actually, the greatest Fury is a Coward Shown Up.
And that is the Modern Left. Welcome to them.
There is no need to shoot them or kill them. They are already dead--in all senses except the physical. And nothing would hurt them more where it ultimately counts than to treat them with the Contempt they deserve.
Prove me wrong.
Good. I have similar feelings. Jesus pick up your cross and follow me. Also, if they hate me, they will hate you. I believe he died a martyr for the cause.
I too saw the same parallel to the Roman times of Jesus. It's like a replay of those days. The series "The Chosen", is very parallel to Charlie. Having watched that series recently, I saw that scenario with Charlie. Still, it's so very sad that Charlie was killed. And I 100% agree the left has lost it's way. I wait for the retribution that will come to those who stood for hate and greed. Trump is no Charlie, but I do believe he was chosen by God to do just what he is doing. Trump knows, IMO, he has little time to waste. The job is so big and complicated, but he holds the vision for America. Trump isn't a charismatic type. He's a tough guy who holds on to his mission as if tomorrow won't be for him. I believe his wife fully knows and understands her husbands purpose is to reset America and keep its leaders honest. Any day, it might be his last day on earth. The risk is really high. He has picked the best cabinet. Trumps legacy will live on through anyone of them. They are strong, fierce and loyal. Something he didn't have the first term. I truly pray for Trump and all of the cabinet as well as his key players and their families that work behind the scenes. It's also key that Elon Musk is part of Trumps mission. God has provided his best warriors for this very difficult job. The paralells to the story of Jesus is there for all to see. Trump isn't like Thank you for writing this article. It needs to go viral. God bless you. ~ Terri Davidson, Panama City Beach. FL.
